How it all began

I’m Ben, the founder of Command Coffee! My passion for coffee started at home but grew while visiting cafés around the world. it wasn’t long before I fell in love with the world of coffee. My travels have brought me to exotic and remote locations, where the coffee was both familiar and unlike anything I’d ever tasted. From the best shot of espresso at every tiny café in Rome, to decadent Turkish coffee in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, to a roadside stand in Cambodia selling "Cafe tek dok kow tekaw" (translated roughly to, coffee with water from a cow, cold—a.k.a. iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk). Fortunately, my travels also brought me to some of the most incredible coffee producing regions of the world, in Central and South America, Asia and Africa, where I was able to see firsthand where my morning cup of coffee truly originates. The variables that go into each and every cup of coffee is truly outstanding; it is safe to say, no two coffees are alike!
 

My passion and love for coffee got an extra boost when volunteering on a medical mission in Indonesia. While travelling across the Island of Flores—a beautiful volcanic island in the centre of Indonesia—we set up mobile clinics providing much needed medical and dental care to remote communities. It was through this experience that I found myself in Bajawa, a small town high up in the mountains. It was there that I had some of the best coffee of my life. I met with the farmers at the plantation, and since then have coordinated a way to get the green beans directly from the farmers. In 2019, the first shipment of Bajawa beans arrived to Ontario, and in late 2019 Command Coffee was officially created.
